Criticism...

Romans 14:1-4
Accept Christians who are weak in faith, and don't argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. For instance, one person believes it is all right to eat anything. But another believer who has a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. Those who think it is all right to eat anything must not look down on those who won't. And those who won't eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. Who are you do condemn God's servants? They are responsible to the Lord, so let him tell them whether they are right or wrong. The Lord's power will help them do as they should.

as you may have noticed i have been reading the new testament and commenting on each area as thoughts occurred to me...and researching other parts of the Bible as questions occurred to me...so i was reading a few chapters of Romans tonight and came upon chapter 14...

it was very interesting to me...i know he is using the food as an example but my cousin discusses the food a lot...for example he says that the old testament says not to eat catfish, shell fish (lobster, crawfish, etc), or mix dairy and meat (no cheese burgers)...and my only thoughts were that there was a new set of rules after Jesus died on the cross (meaning cheese burgers were ok)...or so that we did not have to follow the jewish laws which i discussed ever so slightly in this article...

hmmm...so what is paul saying here?...it almost sounds like you should not question what other Christians do...let them live their life and God will sort it out...but being that i am full of questions i wonder if it is wrong to discuss what other Christians think...to get their viewpoint on why they think you should not eat a cheese burger...i do not think this is a matter of not accepting or judging them but of growing in Christ...find out what leads them to think God wants them to not eat a cheese burger...

now i know the cheese burger example is an odd example that just happens to be from conversations i have had...and luckily it had to do with food just like the scriptures...but the cheese burger could be an example of other things...

back to the book...
